China has made excellent progress developing its second aircraft carrier and Chinese state-run media says it could start patrolling the South China Sea by 2019.

The South China Morning Post based on a scan of Chinese state media reports states that the carrier was "taking shape."

China was very much a "Genie in a bottle" until Abe started rattling sabers.
Japan has launched 3 preemptive attacks in recent history one being Pearl Harbor.
The other two were against China.
Most of the recent ramping up of military technology in China can be ascribed to the growing Japanese threat coupled with Americas commitment to backing them.
If there is one thing (2 ?) that China has learned in the last few decades it is to assimilate new technology and mass produce.
In addition to that most important new scientific papers in the world have Chinese names attached. Whilst the intelligentsia in the USA take law degrees those in China study Science and Technology.
If Pandora's box is forced open then it will be interesting to see what surprises emerge. Even the USA appears to rely on Chinese philosophy when it comes to warfare.
How did they do against little countries like Vietnam and North Korea ?
They will need to do a lot better against Big Daddy.

As a sovereign nation China has every right to build as many advanced Aircraft carriers as they want. Only theirs will be more advanced than any others out there. The Chinese are experts at stealing sophisticated technology and improving upon it for less money. We spend more on defense than any Country on the planet. And what does the United States have to show for it? 20 Trillion in debt and a middle class that is being destroyed. So whats wrong with this picture?

Trading with China is the equivalent or probably worse than trading with #$%$ Germany. We will rue the day that we let our economy become so dependent & intertwined with China. The Chinese are slowly drawing a noose around the US but most Americans are too ignorant to realize it. Have you heard about the rare earth minerals and how China has a monopoly on them? We use them for our advanced military hardware as well as many other things. Another foolish mistake by the US.

When I was in Macau China I had to face a gang of 7-8 members with weapons. I had nothing and told my two friends to step aside because it was not their quarrel. I told these gang that I was not afraid to die. I said I will kill one or two or if I am lucky I will kill three they back down. So that tells me they are all talks and no action. I can never trust China because they made promises that they cannot keep. One country two systems they did not keep it. Promised no weapons on the South China Seas they broke that promise. The leader of China could never be a great leader. He is one of the useless leader in all of China.

Currently at least the "One China" policy is generally accepted so it is pointless showing the claims of Taiwan separately they are the same.
However if you wish to take that as 2 votes rather than 1 it suggests that at least Vietnam is claiming too much and to a lesser extent the Philippines.
Bottom line is that most want as much as they can get. That's human nature.
China is new to this game. They always get accused of copying but newbies have to copy to get off the ground.
Who should China copy?
Should the British Empire be their role model ? USA ?
I would say that given the available role models they are acting appropriately.
China has even offered to negotiate with other countries over disputed areas (something that was uncommon with Britain and the USA).
There are signs that China would be happy the have joint ventures with the Philippines in disputed waters. Is this really so terrible ?
Yes China is now a force to be reckoned with. But I have to say China seems remarkably restrained (compared to The Trump at least).

当前至少“一个中国”政策是被普遍接受的，所以单独表明台湾的立场没有意义，他们算同一个。

If the Chinese build ships like they do buildings which are prone to collapse due to poor materials and engineering then the Free World has nothing to fear.
