If United States stopped trading with China could the US get most of there needs from Japan, Korea, India, Philippines and others to take the blow till the United States is self sufficient more or less again?

You don't need to look anything else. Just ocean container volume, 8 of top 10 container ports are in china. With more than 100m container moves per year (just for these 8). Vietnam had a total volume of less than 15 m, Philippine not worth to mention, Korea has a couple large ports but total number is no where close, India same, so you don't even need to consider if they can produce enough goods to replace Chinaberry . It's simpler than that: even they can produce that much there is no freaking way they can ship those goods out.

不用看其他的，就看集装箱吞吐量，排名前十的集装箱港口有8个在中国。这八个集装箱港口，每年的集装箱吞吐量超过1亿个。越南总共还不到1500万个，菲律宾更不用提了，韩国有几个大港口，但是总量没得比，印度也是，所以根本没必要考虑他们是否能生产足够产品替代中国。即使他们有能力生产那么多，也没有能力运输出去。

I've been reading your Sinophile opinions and I think you still don't get it.

This isn't about trade deficit. This is about containing China. There is a wide consensus in America, both in the establishment and the public, that China is a threat to the United States and the Free World. The tariffs are only a piece in the strategy to make sure this is dealt with.

Other elements are military, academic, stopping Chinese theft and espionage and more.

Same with the new 60 billion to Africa. China wants to build factories there so they can export things to the US in order to bypass the tariffs. That money isnt going to build schools or churches. It’s for factories and other facilities that serve those factories like the roads and power plants to them.

There are “wants” and “needs”

想要和需要是不一样的。

If the US shut down trade with China, no one would starve but you wouldn’t get your latest iPhones.

如果美国停止和中国贸易，没人会挨饿，但是你无法获得最新的苹果手机。

And then you have the a problem that if the iPhone production moves from China to India then it’s not going back to the United States.

而如果苹果的生产从中国转移到印度，那么你永远也别想苹果将生产搬回美国。
