SHANGHAI (Reuters) - China's military is "confident capable and fully prepared" to protect the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity the state-run China Daily on Tuesday quoted Defence Minister Chang Wanquan as saying in reference to Taiwan.

Despite decades of growing trade across the Taiwan Strait China has never renounced the use of force if needed to gain control of Taiwan which it considers a breakaway province.

The People's Liberation Army is "confident capable and fully prepared to resolutely safeguard state sovereignty and territorial integrity" the newspaper quoted Chang as saying on Monday at a reception to mark the 90th anniversary of the military's founding.

Adherence to the "1992 consensus" between Beijing and Taipei and opposition to Taiwan independence are the "political foundation of peace and development of cross-Straits relations" Chang said according to the newspaper.

The "1992 consensus" acknowledges Taiwan and China are part of a single China but allows both to interpret who is the ruler.

Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen has angered Beijing by refusing to recognize the "1992 consensus" as the previous China-friendly Nationalist government did.

No way Taiwan will ever agree to be ruled by communist China. Taiwanese are free people that would rather die than live under China's repressive government that keeps their citizens stupid. Taiwan is a rule of law nation whereas China conveniently ignores rule of law when it doesn't suit their goals. This makes China a very dangerous nation. Meanwhile China's arrogance in international matters has made China a cold war enemy of the United States. China is not a friend of Taiwan or the United States. Boycott China now and also move manufacturing out of China and to countries that respect rule of law.

Slap them with a damn border tax and bring them down economically! The USA is their biggest purchaser of goods! Their GDP to date is 6.9% Slap a border tax TEAR UP THE WTO and let them wither away! Bring back our cotton fields and restart the textile manufacturing in the Carolinas the bulk of what we buy from them clothing they make for retail stores that would be a great start! If we as Americans have to pay a little more for anything else so be it! America would then be manufacturing clothing goods that were outsourced. We already grown our own crops and farm our own goods meat milk etc. So at least the two basic needs are covered! American companies that offshore either get your A-- back home or pay a B.A.T tax on your goods when you take our jobs and try to sell us your offshored goods!

We do not do anything about Communist Chinese ocean sovereignty claims because Red-China is #2 creditor to the FED and if they stop loaning us money to pay the monthly bills we will have to start taxing tycoonery and lobby-loopholed Corporate Profits stored offshore.
