NEW DELHI: The Sports Ministry has confirmed India's contingent for the 2018 Commonwealth Games to be held at Gold Coast City in Australia from April 4-15, which comprises 325 members (221 athletes, 58 coaches, 17 doctors and physiotherapists, seven managers and 22 other officials).

新德里：印度体育部确认，印度代表团将参加于2018年4月4日至2018年4月15日在澳大利亚黄金海岸举行的英联邦运动会。此次印度代表团共计325名成员，包括221名运动员、58名教练、17名医生及理疗师、7名经理人和22名其他官员。

In individual disciplines, Athletics and Shooting has the maximum representation with 31 and 27 participants respectively, while weightlifting and wrestling will see 16 and 12 contenders, respectively stepping up to the challenge. 10 Indian shuttlers will vie for supremacy at the quadrennial event, comprising the likes of World No. 2 Kidambi Srikanth and No. 3 PV Sindhu (who will be India's flag bearer at the opening ceremony of CWG 2018).

"Expenditure of the above cited Indian contingent will be borne by SAI from funds made available to it under the Scheme of Assistance to NSFs as per annexure II. SAI will nominate a nodal officer for this activity that will be responsible to coordinate with the MYAS, NADA, IOA, Balmer and Lawrie etc," the Sports Ministry said in a statement.

"The Indian Olympic Association (IOA), Sports Authority of India, (SAI), National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA), and concerned NSFs may take appropriate measures for conducting the dope tests. IOA may also ensure medical fitness of the team/individual sportspersons prior to their departure."

Earlier, the presence of 'extra officials' in the Commonwealth Games-bound Indian contingent had become a major flashpoint between the sports ministry and the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).

此前，英联邦运动会中的“额外官员”已经成为体育部和印度奥林匹克协会之间的一个亮点。

The IOA then on Thursday had said that Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore had assured it to have a re-look at government's policy of not clearing 'extra officials' for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast. This assurance came after the IOA President Narinder Batra slammed the ministry for raising "unnecessary issues" about the Commonwealth Games contingent, asking it to apply the same standards of probity for its own bureaucrats.

They have made lot of money for themselves they can sponsor their family members on their own money..Why tax payers will bear the cost ?? It is happening only in India.

There is no coach for gymnasts. The average is 1 coach per 3.8 athletes, 1, manager per 31 athletes. I dont know what other officials will do except a few cooks, if any.
