WASHINGTON/NEW DELHI: US President Donald Trump on Monday night reached out to India seeking an enhanced role for New Delhi, especially in the economic field, to bring peace and stability in Afghanistan.

华盛顿/新德里：周一晚，美国总统特朗普邀请印度希望印方发挥更大的作用，特别是在经济领域，以给阿富汗带来和平和稳定。

India, the world's largest democracy, is a key security and economic partner of the United States, the US President said.

他说：““印度，世界上最大的民主国家，是美国重要的安全和经济伙伴。””

"We appreciate India's important contributions to stability in Afghanistan, but India makes billions of dollars in trade with the United States, and we want them to help us more with Afghanistan+ , especially in the area of economic assistance and development," Trump said.

特朗普说：“我们赞赏印度为阿富汗的稳定做出的重要贡献，但印度在与美国的贸易中赚了数十亿美元，我们希望他们能够更多地帮助我们与阿富汗，特别是经济援助领域和发展方面。”
